A major mishap was averted on Thursday evening when a tanker loaded with 22,000 litres of petrol-diesel moving on fourlane near Nehru Nagar Toll Plaza caught fire at around 7:30 pm that was immediately doused-off by Fire and Emergency Service of Durg. There was a long queue of vehicles on both sides of the fourlane which was controlled by the traffic police. As per the information, Tanker number CG 07 BF 6598 carrying 17,000 litres of diesel and 5,000 litres of petrol on Thursday evening left from Mandir Hasaud Depot was moving towards Durg.
 
Meanwhile, the tanker's engine caught fire when it reached near Nehru Nagar Toll Plaza. Immediately after reaching the spot the traffic police informed the police control room and traffic on both sides of the route was stopped and controlled. On the information received from the police control room, fire fighting and emergency services fire engines located in the police control room left for the fire site. The fire personnel extinguished the fire in the diesel tanker and secured the area around the toll plaza. This averted a major mishap in Durg district on Thursday. Fire fighters Mahendra Kumar Chandel, Nagesh Markande, Parag Bhosale, Hiraman played a commendable role in controlling this arson incident.
