Deepak Baij, President of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC), has launched a scathing attack on the BJP on election donations, alleging a significant scam. He called for the Election Commission to revoke BJP’s recognition, accusing the Central Government of using its agencies to suppress opposition leaders. Baij claimed that the BJP Government at the Centre is embroiled in an electoral bond scandal, with central investigative agencies being openly misused. He stated that these agencies were tasked with recovering funds, targeting companies through raids and later pressuring them to donate to the BJP in exchange for work contracts. This, according to Baij, is the largest election donation scandal to date.

Furthermore, Baij criticised BJP Government for employing agencies such as the ED, IT, and CBI as recovery agents, raiding businesses and industrialists and then pressuring them to contribute to the party. He characterised this as government-sponsored illegal extortion on a massive scale, asserting that government’s duty is to protect people’s lives and property, not exploit them. In his view, BJP Government has effectively turned the ED, IT and CBI into its collaborator. Chairman of CPCC’s Communication Department Sushil Anand Shukla, State Congress In-charge General Secretary (Administration and Organisation) Malkit Singh Gaindu, State Congress Senior Spokespersons Dhananjay Singh Thakur, Surendra Verma and other Congress leaders were present at conference.
