The Rapid Action Traffic Police, Raipur, under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Santosh Singh, has directed the identification and recognition of Good Samaritans, i.e., individuals who promptly provide assistance and medical aid to the injured in road accidents, at the scene of accidents, with the aim of preventing road accidents and providing immediate medical assistance to the injured. Recently, in this regard, six Good Samaritans who saved lives by providing immediate assistance to the injured in road accidents were honoured in the control room by the senior police officer. Additional Police Superintendent (Traffic/ Protocol) Anurag Jha and Deputy Police Superintendent (Traffic) Gurjit Singh were present during this occasion. All station in-charges have been directed by the senior police officer to promote and encourage Good Samaritans to provide prompt assistance to the injured at the accident site by identifying and rewarding them. In the same vein, various Good Samaritans who assisted the injured in various road accidents in Raipur district were honoured by the senior police officer with mementos and commendation letters. Additionally, their photos have been displayed on large billboards at prominent locations in the city to inspire others.
 
The Good Samaritans who assisted the injured in road accidents in Raipur district are as follows: Dashrath Sahu, son of Maharu Ram Sahu, from Bagdehipara village, Nawapara Raipur, who played a crucial role in saving lives by immediately calling for an ambulance and rushing the injured to the hospital after an accident near the bus stand in Nawapara on December 12, 2023, and near Pipraoud Chowk on February 22, 2024. Khileshwar Mahant, son of Ferudas Mahant, from Bhaisa village, who immediately called for an ambulance and rushed the injured to Kharrora Hospital after an accident between a motorcycle and a pick-up near S.A. and PEEKAP on December 9, 2023. Kartik Kumar Nirmalkar, son of N Nagarajan, from Housing Board Colony Sejbahar Raipur, who immediately arranged for crane assistance and called for an ambulance after a car lost control and fell into a ditch near Dunda Nala, saving the lives of the seriously injured driver and passenger on February 11, 2024.
 
Ravikumar Sahu, son of Khemlal Sahu, from Sejbahar Raipur, who immediately called for an ambulance after a car lost control and fell into a ditch near Mujgahan Nala on January 16, 2024, and saved lives by providing prompt medical assistance. Govinda Sahni, son of Sadhelal Sahni, from Police Station Mana Camp Raipur, who arranged for a dial 108 ambulance and rushed the injured to Mekahara Hospital after a serious road accident involving a truck and a motorcycle occurred in Dumaritai in 2023. He also informed their relatives and ensured that they stayed in the hospital until their arrival. Parth Vaishnav, son of Shiv Kumar Vaishnav, from Abhanpur, who immediately arranged for medical facilities at Krishna Hospital, Abhanpur, after a serious road accident near the Abhanpur signal on February 6 and 7.
