The Chief of EOW (Economic Offenses Wing) and ACB (Anti-Corruption Bureau) of Chhattisgarh, D M Awasthi, has been removed from his position by the State Government. The Government has appointed IPS Officer Amresh Kumar Mishra, known for his aggressive approach, as the new Chief of EOW and ACB. For nearly 14 months, the former IPS officer and D M Awasthi had been serving as the Directors of these two investigation agencies after retiring from the post of DGP (Director General of Police). After retirement, Awasthi was posted as OSD (Officer on Special Duty) in the PHQ (Police Headquarters). Later, the State Government assigned him the additional responsibility of Director of EOW and ACB.

However, suddenly on March 15, 2024, the Chhattisgarh Government issued an order removing D M Avasthi from the positions of Chief of EOW and ACB and entrusted the command to Amresh Kumar Mishra. The BJP Government of Chhattisgarh had called IPS Amresh Mishra, who was posted on Central deputation in NIA, to make him the IG of Raipur Range. Then on March 11, he was given the additional responsibility of IG in EOW and ACB. Amresh had joined on March 12. It is said that Amresh was called from Delhi to be the IG of Raipur along with the Chief of EOW and ACB.
