After a spell of unseasonal rains with hail and thunderstorm, the scorching summer heat is back in city as Nagpur witnessed maximum temperature of 40.8 degrees Celsius on Thursday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday, predicted that the maximum temperature will cross the 41 degrees Celsius mark on polling day on Friday that will raise discomfort for citizens and the election staff. In the morning hours, till 11 am the weather will remain partly cloudy. Thereafter the mercury will start rising as sky will remain clear till evening. Some thunderstorm activity will be observed in and around Nagpur by late evening which will hardly bring any relief.
 
The Weather Department also predicted light rains with thunderstorm with gusty winds from April 25 to 27 in all over Vidarbha. On Thursday, Akola recorded the highest maximum temperature in Vidarbha with 43.3 degrees Celsius while Chandrapur (43.2 degrees Celsius) also recorded the maximum above 43 degrees mark. Amravati (42.0 degrees Celsius), Bramhapuri (42.2 degrees Celsius), and Yavatmal (42.0 degrees Celsius) also witnessed the maximum temperature above 42 degrees Celsius on Thursday. On April 19, the maximum temperature will increase all over Vidarbha. Akola and Chandrapur are likely to witness the maximum temperature above 43 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature on April 19 is also likely to be above normal in Vidarbha, stated weather department.
