KORADI Police arrested 24 persons and booked more than 100 others after members of two communities clashed during Ram Navami Shobhayatra at Mahadula in the small hours of Thursday. The group clash resulted in stone-pelting on police personnel when they tried to pacify members of both the communities. Ashish Khubele, Convenor of Shree Ram Navami Utsav Samiti, Mahadula, had applied for organising the Shobhayatra. Koradi Police had granted permission by imposing certain conditions. On Wednesday evening, the Shobhayatra started with about 300 participants. When the Shobhayatra was heading towards Mahadula Main Gate from the service road, rumours spread in the locality that some banners put up on the roadside by the members of the other community were torn off and flags pulled down. Soon, hundreds of people gathered and clashed with those in the Shobhayatra.

Cops from Koradi Police Station deployed in the bandobast informed their superiors. Additional police force rushed to the spot.
