Prime Minister Narendra Modi is arriving in city on Friday, April 19, from New Delhi as part of campaign for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates in the general elections in Vidarbha. As per the tour programme received by district administration, the Prime Minister will reach Dr Babasheb Ambedkar International Airport by a special plane from New Delhi at 4 pm. After a brief halt, the Prime Minister is scheduled to leave for Talegaon (Dashasar), Amravati District, for a joint campaign meeting of party candidates in Amravati and Wardha parliamentary constituencies, where BJP’s Navneet Rana and Ramdas Tadas are locked in tough battle for re-election. The party think tank has chosen Talegaon as it lies on the border of both the districts, and hence the Prime Minister’s public meet will have an impact on voters in either district. After completion of the poll meeting, the Prime Minister will come back to Nagpur around 7 pm and have a night camp at Raj Bhawan. On April 20, the Prime Minister will travel to Marathwada for poll campaign at 9.30 am.

The administration is on high alert for the visit and night camp of Prime Minister in the midst of the election, as Nagpur and Ramtek go for voting in first phase of general election. For the city police, the high profile visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi plus the night camp calls for deployment of additional security personnel. This is so, as on voting day, the city police machinery will be busy with general duty. This is the third visit of Prime Minister Modi to the city during the course of general election. First time, he came enroute to Chandrapur where he addressed a public meet for BJP's nominee Maharashtra Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar. The second time, the Prime Minister was in city for a campaign meet at Kanhan for Ramtek parliamentary constituency where Shiv Sena, part of MahaYuti alliance, led by BJP, has nominated Raju Parwe.
