Arthritis awareness event held at Alexis Hospital

Alexis Multispecialty Hospital Nagpur recently organised the third edition of Joint Effort, an arthritis awareness programme.World Arthritis Day was established in 1996 by Arthritis & Rheumatism International and is celebrated each year on October 12. In line with the ongoing social responsibility initiatives of the organisation the event was held at Alexis auditorium. This initiative is especially for engaging senior citizens. Kundatai Vijaykar, Ex-Mayor of Nagpur was the chief guest of honor for this initiative. She emphasized on the importance of regular exercises to keep ourselves fit and Independent at any age.
As a part of this initiative, an educational session on ‘Arthritis Awareness’ was also hosted where Dr Alankar Ambadas Ramteke – Joint Replacement Surgeon, enlightened audience on preventive aspects of Arthritis and importance of early detection to help prevent the further degeneration and irreversible loss to joints.
He also discussed about the symptoms connected to rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases. During the Arthritis Day Celebration, Dr Ajay Patekar, Dr Dilip Wasnik and Dr Sheetal Jain (Anesthesiologist), and Dr Nitin Dambhare and Dr Nitin Wadsakar (Physician), Dr Nitin Shinde (Infectious Diseases Specialist) along with Joint Replacement Specialist, Dr Alankar Ramteke and Dr Shivraj Suryawanshi (Orthopaedician) attended the queries about joint replacement surgery and enhanced recovery programme after joint replacement surgery.
