On Wednesday, Mayor Alok Sharma, BJP District General Secretary Satyarth Prakash Agrawal, Rajendra Gupta, Ravindra Yati, Pawan Borona, Manoj Rathore and other supporters gave memorandum to SDM at Collectorate raising objection over bifurcation of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) issue. In the complaint they have mentioned to reconsider this decision on urgent basis. The time left for implementation of this process is very less.

Due to ongoing festive season required attention to discussion and suggestions for this decision will be very much limited. Besides, citing example for provision they have claimed in case of Mahanagar Palika two or other divisions can be submerged but bifurcation decision is not valid in case of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The proposal includes 54 wards spread over 185.23 sq km in Bhopal Municipal Corporation and 31 wards spread over 232.61 sq km in Kolar Municipal Corporation. Proposing two municipal corporations in Bhopal’s urban limits, District Collector Tarun Pithode, last week issued the draft proposal for bifurcation and invited suggestions and objections from the people, to be submitted by October 16. Commenting on the objections he said that this decision will facilitate in working to create divisions. The distribution of common services like trenching ground, water supply is also to name a few , it will also leads to social religious disparities. With tenure of the municipal corporation set to expire in December 2019, implementation of this proposed bifurcation is very impractical, they added.
