Over 2.36 lakh people deprived of ration due to delay in supply of PoS machines

Assistant Civic Supply Officer S K Khare informed that most of the fair price shops in urban areas were given new PoS machines and new lot of machines will be distributed in rural areas. He assured that the public distribution process will be streamlined soon and beneficiaries will be given monthly ration supply before Diwali 
 
Due to careless working and apathy of the Government machinery over 2.36 lakh families are deprived of monthly ration supply. Ration card beneficiaries are deprived of monthly ration under public distribution system (PDS) during festive season in rural areas of the district. Total 995 fair price shops (ration shops) are available for public distribution process. Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Protection Secretariat recently blacklisted a firm M/s DSK Digital for supplying Point of Sale (PoS) machines and released new work order to M/s Linkwell Telesystems Pvt Ltd for streamlining public distribution process.
 
The district requires total 650 PoS machines but delay in supply of machines has delayed public distribution process. Around 2.36 lakh beneficiaries in rural areas are facing trouble due to absence of ration supply from fair price shops. Assistant Civic Supply Officer S K Khare, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that there is a requirement of around 650 PoS machines for smooth operation of online process of public distribution.
 
Fresh lot of 497 PoS machines was received on October 16 and its distribution will be taken place within next one or two days. Khare informed that most of the fair price shops in urban area were given new PoS machines and new lot of machines will be distributed in rural areas. He assured that the public distribution process will be streamlined soon and beneficiaries will be given monthly ration supply before Diwali. There are over four lakh ration card holders in the district including around 1.66 lakh beneficiaries in urban areas and 2.36 lakh beneficiaries in rural areas of the district. It may be noted that monthly ration distribution from fair price shops is scheduled from day 1 to 21 every month and its time may be increased in special circumstances.
