Man arrested with 1,100 litre oil worth lakhs

Khamtarai Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a 26-year-old man for illegally selling petroleum products by undertaking its packaging through automatic machine.

 
 “Following a precise tip-off, police arrested a man identified as Ravi Barnwal (26), a resident of Urkura locality, indulged in illegal selling of petroleum oil. The accused was illegally storing oil in his house and selling it by undertaking packaging through an automatic machine,” said Khamtarai SHO Ramakant Sahu.
 
SHO Sahu further elaborated that from the possession Ravi, police have seized 1,100 liter of petroleum oil stored in six separate containers, huge quantity of oil packed in pouches, packaging machine and wrapper roll. The estimated market value of the seized oil would be in lakhs. “Acting on a tip-off that a man is illegally storing and selling petroleum oil, a police team swung into action and conducted the raid. During the course of police raid, Ravi failed to furnish documents supporting storage and selling of petroleum oil,” said Inspector Sahu, elaborating that investigation is underway to ascertain the source from where Ravi has procured the oil. An offence is registered against the accused under relevant Sections and investigation is on, added Sahu.
