ANONYMOUS call about a bomb in J K Hospital in Kolar area triggered panic among the staff and patients on Saturday. A caller informed the hospital receptionist as well as FRV Dial 100 police that a bomb was planted in the premises. Soon after the call, patients admitted in critical condition were asked to leave the premises. However, bomb threat at J K Hospital turned out to be a hoax call. Police gave all clear at 10.30 pm after a thorough search of the hospital building.

After combing the entire premises by a team of Kolar police, bomb disposal unit and a sniffer dog, police declared it a hoax call. However, when the cops tried to contact the caller, his mobile was switched off. “Apart from the hospital’s general and private wards, we conducted a thorough check, including the toilets and refuse bins, but did not find any object suspected to be a bomb as the caller had claimed,” informed CSP (Habibganj) Bhupendra Singh. “During further investigation, when the number was traced it came to fore that SIM card belonged to an engineering student.

When police detained the 30-year-old youth later during the probe it was found that the youth was mentally unfit and his treatment is going on at Pt Khushilal Ayurveda College and Dr Sourabh Sahu whose treatment the youth was taking, furnished documents regarding treatment to the police,” added CSP Singh. The probe is underway in the case while no FIR has been lodged by Kolar police in this regard till filing of the report.
