Forest Deptt sounds alert as 3 tigers active in Kerwa to Kaliyasot region

CONCERNED over safety of people, Forest Department raised an alert on Sunday as three tigers are active from Kerwa to Kaliyasot region. Movement of three tigers is being recorded continuously in the same area. The Forest Department has placed special cameras to trap the location of tigers but their location could not be traced. However, the pugmark has proved presence of three tigers in the same area. Forest Ranger from Samardha A K Jhawar, said “Male cub of tigress T-121 is now adult and he is strong enough to set up his territory. He said, the male cub of tigress T-121 is so strong that as soon as he enters the area, other felines immediately leave the territory. Tigress T-121 gave birth to a male and female tiger T-121-1 and T-121-2 in the same area. The male cub is moving towards Bhanpur circle while tigress and female cub are active around Kaliyasot and 13 Shutter Gate.
 
Forest Department is continuously patrolling to keep the three tigers safe. All the visitors and tourists in the area have been warned by the forest team to avoid going towards jungle as three felines are active there. Jhawar said that public announcement has been made among villagers around Kerwa to remain alert. He said T-121-1 is increasing his territory in the same area. He further added, “This area is filled with big cats and it is not confirm when tiger will change its location.
 
People should not enter the area and we are making public announcements to make them alert.” He further informed that tigress T123 gave birth to two cubs in 2016. The two cubs were tagged as T-123-1 and T-123-2. Both the cubs have now left the mother tigress and started making territory in separate region. Forest Department has increased patrolling of guards in the area and asked people to stay away from jungle. The department said cub of T-123 is now growing up and it has stared setting up territory. Apart from this, movement of a male tiger and a leopard is being recorded continuously from Kaliyasot jungle. The two felines are continuously killing prey and marking their territory strongly.
