On the last day of three-day signature campaign of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), hundreds of citizens on Sunday signed as protest against changes done in the election of Mayor and Chairperson of Municipal Corporations. Senior party leaders informed that during the three-day state-wide signature campaign, BJP workers visited door-to-door and took signature of citizens. Besides, all Morcha Prakoshtas also set up stalls at important squares and took signature from people.

They said that the State Congress Government has issued an ordinance for indirect election for the post of Mayor and Chairperson in local urban bodies. Hence to protest against such black ordinance, the BJP has conducted signature campaign amongst masses. Leaders said it is sheer violation of peoples' rights and an attack at civic body system. The move would increase horse trading and misuse of money in civic body elections. BJP leaders said the BJP demands the Governor to take back the ordinance.

Party leader said they got tremendous response from citizens and gave signature as a protest against State Government's move. The party would now send the signatures along with memorandum to the Governor, through Collector, on Monday. Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha conducted signature campaign at Civic Centre, Mahila Morcha carried out campaign at Ganjipura Mahila Market, BJP Pichhada Varga executed the campaign at Lordganj Chowk, BJP Chikitsa Prakoshta conducted campaign in Wright Town.
