City stays calm as cops continue vigil
   Date :11-Nov-2019
A day after the historic verdict by the Supreme Court in Ayodhya case, over 6,000 personnel including one company of RAF, police, NDRF, SDRF and Home Guards still maintained a strict vigil and continued patrolling at the borders of Bhopal on Sunday.

DIG Irshad Wali, Collector Tarun Pithode and Municipal Commissioner B Vijay Datta were out on streets, along with senior officials, taking stock of the situation throughout the day. They together visited various sensitive areas of Bhopal city more than 10 times to ensure peace and harmony.

Divisional Commissioner Kalpana Shrivastava and ADG Adarsh Katiyar monitored the situation in Bhopal division throughout the day. On the other hand, cops too looked relaxed and sitting inside outposts in the areas of new Bhopal. In old Bhopal, cops were standing on roads and barricades were also set-up at several spots. Shops at railway stations, hospitals and other public places were open and visitors in these areas did not face issues in getting eatables. In other areas of new Bhopal, four-wheelers and two-wheelers too had risen in number on the roads.

DIG Irsahd Wali said that patrolling will continue and we will maintain vigil. There is peace all around. Cops are monitoring every move and that the social networking sites are also under watch. Markets and shops which remained shut throughout the day on Saturday were opened but wine shops across the State capital remained closed on Sunday too. Sunday being a holiday for Government and most private offices, streets of Ayodhya witnessed little traffic movement. People of all sections and communities showed remarkable resilience and communal bonhomie post the much-awaited verdict.

Though, it was all partial and not all shops in any market were open. As a security measure, malls were either closed or partially open. Shopkeepers who had opened the shops were mostly milk parlors and tea stalls. Roadside tea stalls in busy intersections of the town were buzzing with activity as usual. People from all walks of life and ages were seen discussing the verdict and its possible impact on Ayodhya in times to come.
