‘Twinkling Star’

Sir,
Congratulations to the Editor for the interesting article on carbon footprint in the issue of 8th November, 2019. Cover design by Hemant Abhyankar is very good as what I find in every issue.

Though now in ‘Seventies’, I find reading Twinkle Star very interesting! It all started with my sons (now settled in US) and with my grandsons whenever they visit Nagpur and carry old issues of Twinkle Star magazine with them. Avinash Gowardhan, nagpur

Respect the mandate of people

Sir,
The tug of war between Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Chief Minister’s chair is the reality of the level, politics has stooped to.

The fight for the Chief Minister’s chair apart from the tussle for “important posts” is very disturbing. While corruption and politics are yet to be officially acccepted by Oxford and Google as synonymous words for each other, the present day politics has made that crystal clear.

How is it then, that even after getting the mandate, the two parties are not able to form a Government? Also what exactly do the politicians mean when they ask for “important portfolios”? Are we to believe that some ministeries are mere cash cows for our politicians? Is there no sense of public service among our public servants?

When battle of ego and a battle to stay relevant takes precedence over common good, interest of the public is undermined.

My honest suggestion as an average commoner to these parties is to not only make an agreement on seat sharing but also on the ministeries that they want so as to prevent this post-election circus from repeating.

Delhi woes

Sir,
Pollution level in Delhi is more than 400PM. Nature is returning back what we have given to her. Delhi has become the 6th - most populated metropolis in the world. Because of the over-population and the overuse of scarce resources such as water put heavy pressure on the environment, road dust and industry causing air pollution, motorcycle and automobile traffic causing noise pollution. So just be a part of solution don’t be the part of pollution.
