Metro Rail project offers huge opportunities for vendors: Dr Brijesh Dixit

While inaugurating the ‘Vendor Development Programme’ here on Monday, Dr Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director of Maharashtra Metro, said that there are huge opportunities for the vendors in Maha Metro Nagpur. “The project is not only developing the city at a rapid pace but it is also providing huge opportunities for youths, vendors and others,’ he said. P M Parlewar, Director MSMEDI, was guest of hounor on the occasion while Gajendra Bharti, General Manager, District Industries Association (DIC); Mayank Shukla, Chairman COSIA Vidarbha; C G Shegaonkar, President – MIA; and others were among the prominent persons present on the occasion.
 
The programme was held in association with MIA (Hingna) and COSIA (Vidarbha), at Udyog Bhawan Hall, Udyog Bhawan, Nagpur. Dixit further said that the more than 300 companies based in Nagpur are already associated with the project and the number is increasing every passing day. The objective of the programme to explore and develop the local vendors and entrepreneurs, which will be a boon to buyers and sellers both as the procurement and supply is always beneficial at local level. Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited or Maha Metro Nagpur has earned its name for fulfilling their target of starting Phase-I of Nagpur Metro Rail project as per the schedule.
 
The Phase-II of Metro Rail project, which will be extended from Butibori to Kanhan on North-South and Asoli, Hingna and Dattawadi on East-West corridor, is in the pipeline. The DPR of Phase-II has been sanctioned by State Government and is awaiting clearance from Central Government. Thus the total stretch of Metro project will be around 86.51 kms in North-South and East-West directions across the two phases and would provide a very useful public transport system to Nagpurians. The work for second phase is expected to start in some time. Besides Maha Metro has been entrusted with Pune Metro Rail Project and executing Tyre-based Metro project at Nasik.
 
Aluminium Metro coach Manufacturing Unit will also come up at Nagpur. Thus Nagpur is going to be Metro Projects Hub of this region and will create a huge potential for local manufacturers and vendors to cater the needs of this infrastructure project. In his welcome address, Shegaonkar said that local entrepreneurs, vendors and others should avail the business opportunities created by the Metro Rail. He further said that besides local entrepreneurs, people from places like Nasik, Aurangabad and Mumbai have also shown their interest in the project. Mayank Shukla said that large number of vendors and others have been showing interest in associating with the mega projects. S M Patwardhan, Vice President of MIA; conducted the proceedings of the event. Sandeep Darvekar, core committee COSIA, proposed the formal vote of thanks.
