With an objective to promote and develop small and medium enterprises in the districts of Vidarbha, the Vidarbha Economic Development Council (VED) will conduct an SME Conference - “SMEs: Opportunities & Possibilities – The Way Forward” on November 15 and 16. The event will be held at Chitnavis at Civil Lines Nagpur. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for MSME, Roads, Highways & Surface Transport, will be the chief guest at an inaugural session at 10 am. on November 16. With the advent of “Make in India” and enhanced focus on locally manufactured products along with the Government’s thrust on doubling engineering goods exports in the next five years and to reach $200 bn by 2030, there is a huge opportunity for the MSME sector. Experts as well as entrepreneurs from the sector will guide the participants. To harness the variety of opportunities that are available to potential entrepreneurs, one of the sessions is specifically focused on opportunities available in the engineering sector.

This panel has been set up in a structure to bring panelists from leading governmental and private enterprises that are based out of this region, on one platform, where they will talk about their organisation followed by the supplies which have been set aside for SMEs and they are facing a lack of suppliers. The opportunity for match-making will be available to both sides – the potential buyers / clients and the suitors – the desiring entrepreneurs.

As an added aspect, some of the customers are coming with their products that they shall put up on display, and some will circulate lists of their requirements. Interested entrepreneurs will have this very high potential opportunity to see a multitude of products and services that could trigger their line of interest and result in a future success story. The programme layout is thus set up in a manner in which the audience will have a chance to listen to the panelists, ask questions, feel and see their products / lists and then establish contact for future interaction.

“We are pleased to state that these efforts of VED Council have been very well supported by the local client / customer base and we will be having panelists from eminent organisations like Western Coalfields Ltd, Mahametro, NEERI, Excel Control Linkage, and Diffusion Engineers. My initial discussions with these enterprises have been eye-opening,” said Shivkumar Rao, President of VED Council. Rajeev Aggarwal will be moderating the session.
