Items prepared by Kamdhenu University students in high demand at Rajyotsav

Demand of Kalakand sweet, Sitaphal (custard apple) Rabri and Sava Kheer, prepared by students of Kamdhenu University, Chhattisgarh, soars high at the five-day Rajyotsav-2019 being celebrated at Government Science College Ground in Raipur from November 1 to 5. However, there is a huge gap between demand and supply of these sweet dishes. While supply is meager, demand of the customers always remain high, said final year B Tech (Dairy Technology) students of the university Ruchi Khapre and Tejaswini Sahu.
 
They are doing a business of Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 everyday despite supply shortage. The business would have reached Rs 1 lakh had supply of these items been adequate, they said. “Presently we have only a few packets of Kalakand sweet lefts with us. Customers are asking for Sitaphal Rabri and Sawa Kheer which are not available with us now,” they said. When asked about such an overwhelming response, they said that the quality and taste.
 
“We can take guarantee for these products as far as quality is concerned. We are 50 students divided in two groups having 25 members in each group. While one group is looking after the production part, other group is taking care of marketing part,” they said, adding they used to make processing of 80 litres of milk on normal days but now the quantity of milk being processed reached to 200-250 litres per day keeping in mind the demand at Rajyotsav. The Kalakand and other food stuff at university is being prepared using scientific method and they pass through the chemical and microbar tests, they said. The product is also approved by FSSAI.
