Maha effect: Thundershowers at many parts of MP

THUNDERSHOWERS are likely at many places including Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal, Hoshangabad, Jabalpur, Sagar and Gwalior divisions in next 24 hours. Minimum temperature in Betul was 15 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, maximum temperature in Bhopal was 29 degrees Celsius and Minimum temperature was 22 degrees Celsius. Wind velocity was 14 kms per hour. Weather remained cloudy throughout the day and rainshowers was also witnessed in the evening. Though the Weather Department has not issued any warning but thundershowers will be witnessed at many places in the State including Shajapur, Guna, Shahdol, Dindori, Ashoknagar and Shivpuri etc. However, no major fluctuation of temperature was witnessed in the areas.
 
The Weather Department has stated that thundershowers will be mainly an impact of Cyclone ‘Maha’ which has formed in the Arabian Sea. Rain was witnessed in many areas of the State including Indore which was recorded at 2.5 mm, Guna 0.6 mm, Dhar 0.3mm etc. Due to severe cyclonic storm next week will be cloudy in many areas of the State including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Hoshangabad. In some areas of the State, there may also be heavy rains and hailstorms at isolated places. Cyclone ‘Maha’ is in east-central Arabian Sea and is moving towards Gujarat. It will bring extremely heavy rainfall to Saurashtra and Gujarat over next few days. In the wake of Cyclone Maha, southern part of Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive thundershowers this week.
 
Curvature of storm is likely to weaken gradually after changing its direction along the curve while going east-north-east. Cold will increase in day time and temperature will be higher than normal at night. This air brings moisture from the sea to the earth and cause thundershowers in city. Therefore, there is a possibility of rain in Ujjain, Indore and adjoining Bhopal, Hoshangabad, Jabalpur adjacent to Gujarat. After next week, cold is likely to increase in major parts of the State and there will be decline in minimum temperature in the region.
