GBM of corporators turns out to be memorable

The last General Body Meeting of the incumbent Corporators turned memorable as the Speaker of Vidhan Sabha Charan Das Mahant, MP Ramesh Bais, MP Chhaya Verma and MLAs as Kuldeep Juneja, Vikas Upadhyay, and Satyanarayan Sharma showed up to grace the occasion on Monday. Chief Guest of the day, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Charan Das Mahant said he was really interested in coming to RMC despite many people suggesting him not to do so on receiving the invitation of Mayor Pramod Dubey. He further stated, Corporators and Mayor have full authority to take crucial decisions for the people.
 
God has given them the opportunity. They are first a worker, but when people elect them it changes everything as they now have to follow code of conduct, laws and ethics of a public representative and lead a life of discipline. Instead of just one of incident, Mahant suggested it could be make a tradition for the Vidhan Speaker to show up at RMC at the start of GBM. MP Sunil Soni recalled his days as Mayor, saying he remained at the helm of affairs for over twelve and a half years. He stated the Corporation may a small unit of Governance, but by no means it’s any less than Vidhan Sabha. Civic body has the authority to spend released by the State Government for infrastructural projects.
 
He also talked about Uttar Pradesh and Kerala, where Corporators and Mayor have the right to write the CR officials and pitched for its implementation in Chhattisgarh. Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) Speaker Prafulla Vishwakarma called it a moment of pride for the RMC in 150 history of the Raipur civic body. He recalled the days of Sunil Soni as the Mayor and Kuldeep Juneja as the Corporator. He pitched for granting more authorities to Corporators and Mayor. He also demanded a provision of Zero Hour in RMC GBM much alike the Zero Hour of Vidhan Sabha. MLA Brijmohan Agrawal congratulated Mayor Pramod Dubey for creating a confluence of Rajya Sabha, Vidhan Sabha and Municipal Corporation in the special GBM.
 
Agrawal called the Corporators lucky for they are in Capital city, which gives them exposure to the immense chance of working for the people. He also congratulated Corporators while mentioning how much the Raipur has transformed from the initial days in terms of infrastructure, but stressed on improving it further. He also encouraged them with words like Corporators are the future MLA or even CM.
