Police bust chain-snatching gang, 3 held

Three miscreants involved in robbery of gold chain from a woman at Manisha Market on the foundation day of Madhya Pradesh have been arrested by Habinganj police with the help of CCTV footages and recovered gold chain and a scooter used in the crime was seized from them, said Bhopal DIG Irshad Wali speaking to the mediapersons at Police Control Room on Monday.
 
One of the nabbed miscreants deals in selling jewellery at New Market and bought the robbed gold chain while two robbed gold chain from the victim. The accused who committed robbery were identified as Nitesh Jathav (19) of Raisen and Rohan Sutradhar (21) of Habibganj. Nitesh has left his studies after 10th standard and works as labourer whereas Rohan is BA first year student and works as delivery boy with Uber Eats.
 
The jeweller who bought the robbed gold chain is identified as Rajesh Agrawal (56) and runs Raj Jewellers in TT Nagar. Rohan is first year student of BA and works with Uber Eats as delivery boy while Nitesh works as labourer and has a crime record. During the investigation, it was found that the accused who were wearing mask during chain snatching with victim Ashwini Patil while she was heading towards herbal centre in Gulmohar area, had used a blue colour Jupiter scooter bearing registration number MP 04 UV 3016 and based on the registration number accused were traced.
 
Acting on a tip off regarding youths involved in the robbery police team rushed to the spot and nabbed the two youths and when the two were quizzed they confessed that they have sold the robbed gold chain to jeweller in New Market who was later nabbed. The modus operandi of the accused was to target women on morning walk in the early morning hours. The two used to mask their faces while targeting the victims to evade from been identified. They would be produced in the court to seek their police remand for further quizzing.
