The single road near Khapri will be kept open only for the commuters coming to Nagpur City Police have come up with the solution that would avoid traffic chaos during cricket T20 match to be held at Jamtha cricket stadium on November 10. With work of Khapri Road over Bridge (RoB) is in progress, the road near it got narrowed and people are experiencing traffic chaos almost everyday there. Considering this aspect, Nagpur city police officers team under the leadership of Dr Bhushan Kumar Upadhyaya, Chinmay Pandit, Deputy Commissioner of Police visited the road till Jamtha to see what measures need to be taken to smoothen the traffic on the match day.

During cricket match traffic jams have become the regular features on this road. Nobody could forget the traffic chaos during the one day matches. Of course last match did not witness the traffic chaos by the match-lovers thanks to the proper planning by city police. This time one peculiar problem is being faced by the commuters as they are using one single road to and fro Wardha. Whether city police thought of this particular problems?

While speaking to ‘The Hitavada’ Dr Upadhyaya said, “Our team had a round on Tuesday and we did notice the problem. But I don’t think that would pose a big problem. We have found out solution and accordingly people would not face any problem.” Chinmay Pandit explained, “Right now traffic is moving on one road where one divider has divided traffic in two parts for the commuters going to Wardha and those coming towards Nagpur. During the end of the match when people suffer maximum we will keep both ways only for the vehicles coming to Nagpur.

There is another pathway that goes towards Besa and other areas so we will request people residing in that area to take that road. Between some time intervals we may stop traffic for 10-15 minutes if needed. Our cops will be deployed at every necessary points to monitor traffic and to check whether any mess is taking place.”Long back in 2009, then cops had demanded to widen the bridge to avoid traffic chaos but nobody heeded to the suggestion.
