Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited or Maha Metro Nagpur has earned its name for fulfilling their target of starting Phase-I of Nagpur Metro Rail project as per the schedule. The Phase-II of Metro Rail project, which will be extended from Butibori to Kanhan on North-South and Asoli, Hingna and Dattawadi on East-West corridor, is in the pipeline. The DPR of Phase-II has been sanctioned by State Government and is awaiting clearance from Central Government. Thus the total stretch of Metro project will be around 86.51 kms in North-South and East-West directions across the two phases and would provide a very useful public transport system to Nagpurians.

The work for second phase is expected to start in some time. Besides Maha Metro has been entrusted with Pune Metro Rail Project and executing Tyre-based Metro project at Nasik. Aluminium Metro coach Manufacturing Unit will also come up at Nagpur. Thus Nagpur is going to be Metro Projects Hub of this region and will create a huge potential for local manufacturers and vendors to cater the needs of this infrastructure project. The Vidarbha Chapter of Chamber of Small Industry Associations (COSIA) and MIDC Industries Associations (Hingna), held detail discussions with authorities of Maha Metro Nagpur, to explore and develop the local vendors and entrepreneurs, which will be a boon to buyers and sellers both as the procurement and supply is always beneficial at local level.
