Panicked Sirbara people climb atop roof as tiger strays into village

People in Sirbara village of Badi Nagar under Obedullaganj Forest Division were terrified on Friday when a tiger strayed in their village. Rescue team from Van Vihar National Park, Bhopal, rescued the tiger in two hours search operation.
The tiger has been sent to Satpura Tiger Reserve. The tiger ventured into the village early morning that made the people scared. To save their lives, people climbed upon the roof.
Local police team also reached the spot to control the mob of villagers. The tiger was spotted by people working in the field and they immediately ran towards the roof. Police team was informed about the incident and then rescue team from Van Vihar was called.
Talking to ‘The Hitavada’ Anil Singh, District Forest Officer (DFO) Obedullaganj said, “rescue team from Van Vihar has captured the tiger with the help of local police team. The tiger was tranquillised in two hours effort. As per order of authorities, tiger has been sent to Satpura Tiger Reserve.”
He further said that the tiger will be kept in enclosure for few days and then further decision will be taken to leave him in open jungle. DFO Singh said that the rescue operation was very risky as tiger was very active. He said the tiger strayed into village after losing his territory area. When people working in the field spotted, they started screaming and called everyone to run on rooftop of houses. Witnessing the crowd of people, the tiger was also panicked and he kept on moving from one place to other. He said that rescue team was called from Van Vihar National park to tranquillise the tiger. The team surrounded the animal from all side and gave gunshot. The tiger was tranquillised in two different shots. After tranquillising the animal, team captured the tiger in a net and sent him to Satpura Tiger Reserve.
