Renuka Singh lashes out at CM Baghel over MSP row
   Date :09-Nov-2019

Union Minister of State of Ministry of Tribal Affairs Renuka Singh has attacked the Bhupesh Baghel government on the issue of paddy procurement. She said that Congress should have properly deliberated on the issue of Minimum Support Price (MSP) before they made the announcement. Now that they have committed it, they should fulfill it. She alleged that the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel while he was the CPCC Chief was also indulging in gimmicks and he even today continues to do so.

The Union Minister said that Congress made false promises to the people just to wrest power from BJP. She added that while BJP was in power, it had promised to give 2,100 as MSP for the paddy, but the BJP government in State could not give this MSP to the farmers for three years due to the policy of the Central Government, BJP even had to bear the consequence of it. Renuka Singh was of the view that the Chief Minister should have understood the policy of the Central Government on the matter of paddy procurement as the centre cannot deviate on policy matters.

Renuka Singh alleged that, she is the lone minister in the Union Cabinet from Chhattisgarh, but the Chief Minister never discussed any important State issues with her even for five minutes. She said that even she wanted that the state progress, the farmers in the state face no difficulties, the youth and women are safe and secure and development works are not stalled, but for making these things happen, focus must be on coordination and that is the best way of getting things done between Centre and State. However there is lack of coordination from the State Government and the ministers and leaders of the party are giving provoking statements, the Minister lamented.

Singh further said that the Congress leaders make impolite remarks against the former Chief Minister as well as the Prime Minister of the country. When UPA government was in power, the minister in the Manmohan Singh Cabinet who visit the State used to extol the BJP government in State. But today unfortunately the State Government has failed in exercising caution and building coordination with the Central Government. Renuka Singh said that even the BJP wants that the farmers get the benefits and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is already working on scheme to double the income of the farmers. She said that the stubborn attitude of the state government will not be in the interest of State and that Chief Minister should talk to the Prime Minister rather than taking people and agitating. The Modi government believes in ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’ and people of Chhattisgarh is no different.
