   Date :09-Nov-2019

Security across Chhattisgarh has been heightened ahead of Ayodhya title dispute case’s verdict, which the Supreme Court is expected to deliver before November 17. The law enforcement agencies here have been put on alert mode to prevent any untoward incident post the Apex Court verdict.

In a view of Supreme Court’s verdict, Director General of Police (DGP) D M Awasthi on Friday gave necessary instructions to all the Range Inspectors General (IGs) and Superintendents of Police by chairing a video conferencing. Addressing the meeting, DGP Awasthi directed officials to beefed-up security arrangements in districts under their respective jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, the DGP was accompanied by Additional Director General (ADG) Himanshu Gupta, Deputy Inspector General Sundarraj P and Assistant Inspector General Mayank Shrivastav.

“Elaborate security arrangement by deploying adequate numbers of policemen including armed personnel will be deployed to deal with any unforeseeable situation. Intelligence wing of Chhattisgarh Police has stepped-up its exercises,” said a senior police officer on the condition of not to be quoted in the newspaper.

In a view of this situation, leave of police personnel (excluding those who have genuine reasons) has been cancelled, said the officer, elaborating that SPs have been directed to undertake review of forces available with them. “Special Intelligence Branch and local intelligence of separate districts are reportedly keeping close vigil of separate organisations as a preventive moves. Besides, police personnel are keeping close eye on temples and mosques across the state so that rumour/trouble mongers could not draw the benefit of post verdict situation. Several groups of social media platforms are also under hawk-eye of the state police,” averred the officer.

In the backdrop of DGP’s meeting, Raipur Range Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Anand Chhabra and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shaikh Arif Husen chaired an emergency meeting of all Additional Superintendents of Police (ASPs), City Superintendents of Police (CSPs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) at Police Control Room on Friday night. The meeting addressed by two top cops of Raipur Police issued several directives to rank and file for ensuring that neither any individuals nor group of people belonging to any faith or political parties take law in their hands, irrespective of Apex Court’s verdict on Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid case. The duo also directed to keep hawk’s eye fringe elements and miscreants, who might pose threat to peace and harmony. Several other set of directives were also given to the officials attending the meeting regarding the fool-proof security arrangements to uphold the law and order.
