Ministry of MSME’s Secy visits city for finalising land for Testing Centre

Dr Arun Kumar Panda, Secretary, Ministry of MSME recently visited the city for finalisation of land for Testing Centre in Nagpur. On the occasion, P M Parlewar, Director, MSME-DI Nagpur welcomed him and briefed him about various activities undertaken by MSME-DI Nagpur. Parlewar also briefed him about the progress in respect of MSME-DI Nagpur. The visit was mainly to finalise the land in Butibori area for setting up of technology centre . The Regional Testing Centers, Field Testing Stations and Autonomous bodies like Tool Rooms and Technology Development Centers (TDCs) of the Ministry conduct long term, short term, trade/field-specific and industry-specific tailor-made courses as well as vocational training programmes. These include specialized programmes for Engineers, Diploma holders and it is so that their absorption by the industry is immediate. Some of the Tool Rooms are also conducting M. Tech. level programmes in collaboration with Universities/Technical Institutions.
 
These institutions have also recently designed and taken up special module of training for weaker sections of society for which sponsorship is being received from various State Governments. The institutes also have modules for women and physically handicapped persons. The training courses conducted by the Tool Rooms and technology Development Centers are -Long Term Diploma and Certificate courses in tool engineering, specialized hi-tech courses in tool engineering for engineering graduates, Diploma and ITI Certificate holders and related discipline, Skilled enhancement courses for industry personnel, Upgradation courses for trainers in training Institutions and industries, Customized training programmes for industries. Similarly, Dr Panda also visited the Readymade Garment Cluster in Nagpur.
 
The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India (GoI) has adopted the Cluster Development approach as a key strategy for enhancing the productivity and competitiveness as well as capacity building of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) and their collectives in the country. During that period as officers from all over India were present in Nagpur for export promotion meeting, he took the review of all officers present in the CFC.
 
During the visit to CFC he appreciated the CFC set up at Nagpur and said that it should be the role model for setting up the CFCs in other states also. He expressed satisfaction over the working and facilities of CFC. Over 600 women are employed and engaged in embroidery (garment) which is effectively generating employment. The advanced machines are available in the CFC. The CFC is set up with the help of MSME-DI Nagpur. Branded and export quality garments are manufactured in the CFC which are being supplied to big brands. The visitor also interacted with all the officers from various MSME-DIs present.
