Special pujan was performed at temple, ashrams situated along the bank of holy Narmada and also in different temples of city. It may be mentioned that ‘Sootak’ of the solar eclipse had been started from 8.20 pm on Wednesday night. According to tradition, the gates of temples had been closed and poojan was postponed till the end of solar eclipse. The solar eclipse was started from 8.10 am and moon partially covered the Sun till 9.30 am. It may be mentioned that total solar eclipse was not witnessed in north India.

Total solar eclipse in the form of Ring of Fire was seen in South India only. The shadow of moon started gradually disappearing and it moved away from the Sun by 11.50 am. Prior to it, 7 plants were also seen together in year 1962. Next solar eclipse would occur after six months on June 21, 2020. According to astrologers Sun and moon, Saturn, mercury, Jupiter and Ketu were seen together.

However Rahu and Ket are considered shadow planet rather the planets. As according to the astrologers the solar eclipse was favourable for some people and inauspicious for some others. Those interested to see the eclipse saw the solar eclipse with help of special goggle, dark X ray films etc or indirectly since the watching the solar eclipse directly with naked eyes is harmful for eyes.Soon after the doors of temples were opened after solar eclipse people flocked the temples and offered special prayers. According to Hindu custom the people remained empty stomach during the solar eclipse and took meals only after the end of solar eclipse and after taking bath, offering prayers. They also clean the cloth and homes after that.
