“After retirement from Government service, a new innings of life begins. It is a matter of happiness that retired police officers and employees have included creative activities significantly in their new innings” said Director General of Police Vijay Kumar Singh. DGP Singh was addressing the annual meet and honour ceremony of Madhya Pradesh Police Service Pensioners Welfare Association as the chief guest. On this occasion, he handed over cheques of honorarium of Rs 10,000 each on behalf of Police Service Pensioners Welfare Association to a dozen meritorious children of police employees. Also, retired elderly police officers were honoured by wearing shawls, quince and wreaths.
 
Director General of Police Singh assured the officials of Madhya Pradesh Police Pensioners Welfare Association that all possible co-operation will be done by them in constructive work on Sunday, in the program organised at Vrindavan Gardens here on Sunday. Also, the Police Headquarters will now provide financial assistance of one lakh rupees for welfare programmes to the Police Pensioners Welfare Association. Till now, assistance of Rs 50,000 was given. He also congratulated everyone on the New Year. In the programme, the Director General of Police honoured the meritorious children of Madhya Pradesh Police employees, who have secured more than 84 per cent marks in class 12 this year.
 
The meritorious students awarded include Akash, Jaya Gaur, Indranarayan, Chitra Chaudhary, Prabhat Shrivastava, Monika Khatri, Kanishka Singh, Ayushi, Sonali, Ashish, Balveer and Soumya Patel. The Director General of Police also honoured retired senior police officers and employees on the occasion. These include 95-year-old retired police officer S S Srivastava and B B Shukla, SK Sharma and M L Yadav.
