Under Chief Minister Urban Slum Health Scheme, nearly 73,000 people have been provided medical treatment facility in last three months. Health Department’s Mobile Medical Teams visited total 1,369 slums in all 13 Municipal Corporations and provided free consultation, medicines and treatments. In these camps held in slum areas, facilities of medical tests for malaria, HIV, diabetes, anemia, tuberculosis, leprosy, high blood pressure, eye problems, and health checkup facility for pregnant women was provided along with the vaccination facility for children.
 
To provide easy access to healthcare services to every citizen and to improve the quality of services, the Chief Minister Urban Slum Health Scheme was launched on October 2 by the state government, which has now started yielding promising results. A large number of people are availing the health check-up and treatment facilities at the health camps.
 
Through this scheme, nearly 16 lakh people living in 1567 slums under various Municipal Corporations are being provided medical facilities. In last three months i.e. October, November and December, 17,684 people of Korba Municipal Corporation, 14,712 in Raipur Municipal Corporation, 7013 in Bhilai, 6977 in Rajnandgaon, 5688 in Ambikapur, 5594 in Durg, 44656 in Raigarh, 3066 in Jagdalpu, 2609 in Bhilai-3 Charoda, 2222 in Birgaon, 1676 in Dhamtari, 1402 in Bilaspur, 1035 in Chirmiri, have been provided free medical treatment facility under this scheme. In the same duration, Mobile Medical Teams have provided free checkup, treatment and medicines in 447 slum areas of Durg Municipal Corporation, 320 slums in Bhilai, 114 in Korba, 101 in Rajnandgaon, 83 in Raipur, 67 in Ambikapur, 60 in Bhilai-3 Charoda, 54 in Raigarh, 38 in Chirmiri, 28 in Dhamtari, 27 in Birgaon, 12 in Jagdalpur and 11 slum areas in Bilaspur Municipal Corporation. Meanwhile, medical test of total 4887 people was done for diagnosis of malaria. In the camps, 6618 people underwent high blood pressure test, 19274 people availed medical test facility for diabetes, 13209 for anemia, 2123 people availed eye-checkup facility, 298 underwent test for TB, 347 for leprosy and 1477 people for HIV. Meanwhile, checkup of 2910 pregnant women was done in these camps held under the scheme and 104 infants were vaccinated.
