Madhya Pradesh is reeling under severe cold which has paralysed normal life. Severe cold wave made people to shiver in Umaria, Seoni, Datia, Gwalior districts. Cold wave was also observed at a few places over the State. Likewise, cold day also affected normal life at many places of State. Icy winds have plummeted temperatures.
 
Bhopal’s minimum temperature was 7 degrees Celsius. Its maximum temperature was 22.3 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees below normal. The worst situation is in Gwalior and Chambal belt. Gwalior’s maximum temperature dipped to 8.3 degrees Celsius, 15 degrees below normal. In other words, people in Gwalior are really battling with hell like cold. “Owing to dense fog, maximum temperature continue to remain low from normal in Gwalior, Morena, Khajuraho, Sidhi, Satna etc,” said Duty Officer of Weather Department. The only relief is this that Weather Department is anticipating slight rise in night temperatures.
 
In last twenty four hours, dense to very dense fog was observed over Northern Madhya Pradesh including Sidhi, Chhattarpur, Guna, Gwalior districts. Shallow to moderate fog was observed at Satna, Rewa, Damoh, Datia, Sheopurkalan districts. Severe cold day was observed in Satna, Sidhi, Rewa, Narsinghpur, Chhattarpur, Tikamgarh, Damoh, Datia, Gwalior and Sheopurkalan districts. Lowest minimum temperature of 2.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in Gwalior and Datia.
 
The forecast says that cold wave is likely in a few places of Sagar, Rewa, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Chambal, Ujjain and Bhopal districts. Cold to severe cold day is likely in isolated places of Sagar, Rewa, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Chambal divisions. Dense to very dense fog is likely at Sagar, Rewa, Shahdol, Gwalior, Chambal divisions respectively. As severe cold is ruling the roost hence people are donning warm clothes round the clock. Now such is the situation that after 9 pm roads wear deserted look as no one wants to brave the biting cold.
