Remarkable show of city players in South Asian Games mirrors dominance of Jabalpur

Representation of Jabalpur in ongoing 13th South Asian Games mirrors increasing dominance of the district in Central India sports. For the first time in the history of district when its three players, an official and Deputy Chief De Mission of Indian team are representing the nation in South Asian Games 2019 in Kathmandu (Nepal). Along with representation city players have won a gold and two bronze medals in their respective competitions. Digvijay Singh, Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Olympic Association, who has been appointed as Deputy Chief De Mission of Indian team while Madhya Pradesh Wushu Association, Technical Director, Manoj Gupta representing the country as official.
Digvijay Singh informed that it is a matter of great pride for the district and State as well that they have been given an opportunity to represent the country in South Asian Games. Proving their mettle, Jabalpur’s shooting player Shreya Agrawal represented the Indian team in senior category and clinched a gold and a bronze medals in Air Rifle competition, while International Wushu player Anjul Namdeo secured a bronze medal in the championship. Jabalpur’s another player Nancy Jain is representing Indian Kho-kho team. Similarly, Nancy Jain and Sachin Maravi were selected to attend a camp of Indian Kho-kho team but only Nancy was selected in national squad.
Besides this, State’s Taekwon-Do player Latika Bhandari bagged a gold medal for the country. International Wushu Judge Manoj Gupta informed that two players of Jabalpur named Anjul Namdeo and Sakshi Jatav were selected in Indian camp but Sakshi failed in qualifying the final round. Anjul Namdeo proved his mettle by winning a bronze medal for the country. He said that strong representation of Jabalpur in Indian team is a good sign for the sports fraternity to ensure their contribution for the country in international competitions.
