Dhananjayrao Gadgil Institute of Cooperative Management established in the year 1972 with consent of the Government of Maharashtra and Government of India to provide Cooperative Training, Education and Consultancy to the personnel working in Cooperative Institutions of Maharashtra state and Cooperative Department of Government of Maharashtra. Apart from providing need based Cooperative Training, Education and Consultancy services, the institute also undertakes recruitment activities for the cooperative organisations. Recently, the institute conducted a workshop here on the topic - ‘Agri Stratups: Role of Innovation and Technology in Co-operative Development in India’.
 
More than one 100 farmers, students and others took part in the event. Former Vice-Chancellor of Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth Dr Sharad Nimbalkar presided over the event while Pro Vice-Chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University Nagpur - Dr V S Deshpande was the chief guest. President of Gandhibagh Co-operative Bank Ravindra Durugkar; Additional Director Vanamati Dr Archana Kadu; progressive farmer Praveen Balkhede; Prof Dr Vinod Raut; Ajay Kadu and others were among the prominent persons participated in the workshop.
 
Addressing the participants, Nimbalkar highlighted the various issues related to agriculture sector in India. He also spoke about opportunities for farmers in national and international markets. He appealed to the participants to think of startups in agriculture sector based on modern technology. “If we can promote startups in this area, it would be great help to the farmers and eventually to the nation,” he added. B V Naik played a vital role in orgainising the workshop. Dr Ravindra Jadhav conducted the proceedings of the event while Dr N Ganeshan proposed the formal vote of thanks.
