NTPC Mouda making efforts to fulfill its coal demand from WCL: Gupta

In order to meet the demand, NTPC Mouda is working to its full capacity with two units of 500 MW and other two units of 660 MW, said Aloke Gupta, Group General Manager of NTPC Mouda after taking over charge. Gupta who was talking to section of media said, NTPC is enjoying the status of Maharatna and was formed in the year 1975.


“NTPC is now the main supplier of power to the country. Of the total supply, NTPC contributes 23 per cent of the power to the country. NTPC is also giving equal importance to environment conservation and CSR activities,” he said. He said, “We have been awarded for environment protection and for cleanliness.” He said, “We are using 2 litres of water for production of one unit of power which is minimum in the industry. We are taking efforts to even reduce the consumption of water.”


He said, the research is going on reuse and reduce the water. “The future of NTPC is bright and NTPC Mouda will scale up during the coming year,” he claimed. NTPC, Mouda gets coal from Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) and South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL). “We are making efforts to fulfill our coal requirement from WCL. If this happens, it will save cost for us and will also reduce our production cost. We will be able to give cheaper power,” Gupta said.


He said, the negotiations with Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is going on for the supply of sewage water. As the new industrial policy did not allow industrial usage of water from rivers in radius of 50 km.


Gupta said, various initiatives are taken under the CSR activities. “The construction of roads, providing water ATMs, community hall, health check-up camps are some the activities which are under way. We are also taking care to see that our plant makes less air pollution. We are also taking plantation drives,” Gupta said.
