‘Company secretary is doctor for organisation’

While speaking at the seminar organised here by the Nagpur Chapter of Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) on Saturday, well-known industrialist and Managing Director of SMS Limited Anand Sancheti said that the company secretaries are health specialists of the organisation. He was the chief guest at the full-day seminar on ‘The recent amendments in SEBI Regulations, Companies Act 2013 & Companies (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019’ held at Hotel Centre Point. In the thought provoking address, Sancheti further said that company secretaries take care of the company wherever some thing goes wrong. “It is their responsibility to bring normalcy in the organisation quite similar to that of doctors who bring back the patients to normal life,” he said. He further said that company secretaries develop a strong bond of trust between the employer and employees. Highlighting the need of effective communication skills, he said that cordial relations between the employees and employers is very crucial in any organsiations.
 
 
CS Savithri Parekh, Chief – Secretarial Compliance, Reliance Industries Limited delivered her views and insight on recent amendments in listing regulations and SEBI (Prohibition of Insider Trading) (Amendment) Regulations, 2018 citing relevant examples on the basis of her 25 years of experience in the industry. CS Sudhakar Saraswatula spoke on the recent amendments in Companies Act, 2013 and Companies (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019, Significant Beneficial Ownership and Amendments Rules, 2018, Active KYC and provisions thereof. The participating members and others showed keen interest in the topics and felt that it would definitely help them in the implementation of these amendments. Vikas Jain, Assistant Vice President, NSDL covered the process of ‘Dematrilisation of Securities of Unlisted Public Companies as per Companies ( Prospectus and Allotment of Securities) Third Amendment Rules, 2018’.
 
 
The seminar was attended by more than 110 company secretaries. CS Tushar Pahade, Regional Council Member WIRC; CS Shantanu Jog, Chairman; CS Deepti Joshi, Vice Chairperson; CS Khushboo Pasari, Secretary; CS Rohan Mehra, Treasurer; and other managing committee members of Nagpur Chapter of WIRC of ICSI took efforts for the success of the event. The committee recognised the efforts of CS Meha Murarka, CS Tejas Shingewar, CS Keshav Daliya and CS Monish Pal in organising and conducting the seminar successfully.
