shun politics

THIS is the time to keep politics aside and acclaim the achievement of India’s defence scientists. This is one rare moment when the whole nation must applaud the achievement -- beyond politics, beyond biases. This assertion becomes necessary in view of the efforts of some uncouth elements to blame the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for abusing the scientific achievement for political benefit. This charge is a huge nonsense, to say the least. For the past some time, Opposition parties have been accusing Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi of politicising everything -- from Pulwama terror strike that claimed lives of 40 CRPF jawans to the subsequent anti-insurgency cleansing on the ground plus the Balakote airstrike.

The Opposition has not stopped short of questioning the integrity and bravery of the Defence Forces. And now has come the accusation that the ruling alliance is politicising the successful experiment of deploying anti-satellite-missile under the banner of ‘Mission Shakti’. This is reprehensible, and we condemn all such attempts. In fact, the nation has already condemned the attempts without mincing of words. Not one Indian has liked the politically-motivated accusations that had no meaning. In fact, it is the Opposition that has been politicising every achievement. Now also, as the common people plus the entire scientific community of the country is applauding the achievement, some Opposition leaders are accusing the Prime Minister of having cornered one full hour on national television networks to derive a political benefit from the scientists’ achievement. Fortunately, the nation has learned to sift untruth from truth. It is disgusting to realise that the Opposition leaders, blinded as they are by political motives, do not realise that the nation’s scientific calendar has little to do with political activity. In fact, development and experimental deployment of an anti-satellite-missile has been on the cards for long years, no matter who ruled in New Delhi. The whole range of India’s scientific achievements in space or atomic sciences have been going as per a perennial calendar whose dates have their own relevance beyond politics.

That was the reason why Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee used the preparations made by his predecessor Mr. P.V. Narasimha Rao at Pokharan II. Among the few words Mr. Narasimha Rao uttered as he handed over charge to Mr. Vajpayee were, in effect, that he had made everything ready and Mr Vajpayee could use all that. A similar method is in effect even now. Mr. Modi has made the announcement of the achievement as he is the Prime Minister. There could be anybody else in his place. For, such achievements come as per a well-meditated scientific calendar. The most unfortunate and disgusting part is that the politically-blinded Opposition loses sight of these wonderful realities.

The very statement of an Opposition leader with jaundiced eyes that the Prime Minister has cornered the national television time shows how immature the man is. No matter what the Opposition says, the common people in the country have understood what the truth is. They always know how to sift fact from fiction. They have come to know by now that the Opposition is blinded by political motives. They know by now the difference between the man named Mr. Narendra Modi who strives 24x7 to achieve better levels of development for all, and the men and women who strive to remove him. Such a stark difference between the two agendas has been noted well and correctly by the people. At this stage, we appeal to the Opposition parties to stop politicising such moments of national pride by apportioning blame on the Government for trying to abuse genuinely good developments. This is in their own interest.
