Asserting that the state is gradually heading towards bankruptcy, Bharatiya Janata Party National Vice President Dr Raman Singh said during the recently held Budget Session in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, he had warned the government regarding the same. Dr Singh further added that corruption is in the DNA of Congress. Although the Congress leaders have forgot that the UPA tenure was engulfed in several scams like 2G scam, Coalgate, CWC, there is endless lists of corruption leveled against it. The party which has given birth to corruption and scams in this country is pointing fingers on others. The party and its leaders should be ashamed. Addressing mediapersons on Saturday, the former Chief Minister said the financial situation of the state has become grave and it is evident from the fact the ‘server is down’ in state treasury since last 22 days. He alleged that the server has been put in down mode deliberately as in this IT era, it is technically not possible that servers remain down for such a long period.

Technology is so advanced today that servers doesn’t remain down for even 10 minutes nowadays. Dr Singh said the fact is that the state is gradually proceeding towards bankruptcy and due to non-availability of funds with the state government, bill payments to the tune of over Rs 2,000 crore are pending. The state government is not in a position to clear these bills. Month-end has come and state government is not in a position to pay salary to its employees, Legislators, etc. Even payments of all types of pension funds are pending since the new government has come to power. On the other hand, the state government is on a spree for shelving all major government schemes like free distribution of channa, salt, etc. Also the subsidy of Rs 450 crore being given by the erstwhile BJP government is also being withdrawn. Dr Singh further added that now the state government is all set to close down Daal Bhaat Kendra. He said it is a major scheme which should be continued. If the centre has stopped issuing rice quota for the same, there is enough rice in Chhattisgarh to keep the scheme running. Under subsidy we distribute rice at Re 1 per kilo.

The daal-bhaat kendra is for poor and just for the sake of few crores, the state government shouldn’t cry on split milk, he added. Dr Singh said this is a conspiracy of putting Chhattisgarh in financial trouble. This is only the beginning. The state government has waived-off short-term agriculture loans but still the farmers have not got no-dues certificate against the waiver. In the coming months the situation will become more grave, as the state government has made several announcements, how will it fulfill it remains to be seen. Just for the sake of vote politics the Congress came to power by making big promises, and now the state had come under economic anarchy. Seven times the state government has taken loans and very soon the financial institutions will start refusing telling that the state government is not in a situation to return the same.
