I-T survey on three business premises

In their stepped-up effort to plug-in revenue deficits, sleuths from Investigation Wing of Income Tax Department on Tuesday mounted survey operations on three business premises in the capital. Unaccounted cash to the tune of lakhs were seized from both the premises by the taxmen, even as the survey operations were likely to continue for another day. According to sources, two different teams of tax enforcers from Income Tax Department on Tuesday enveloped two premises wherein one situated at Lalganga Midas Commercial Complex in Fafadih and another a major jaggery trader in Bhainsthan area.
 
 
“While the office premises of M/s R J Traders, dealing in cold storage and other commission agents business was covered at Lalganga Midas Commercial Complex, two other business premises in Bhainsthan area enveloped by the tax sleuths were M/s Ramesh Gudd Udyog and Ms Surana Gudd Udyog respectively.
 
 
Both these Bhainsthan-based firm owned by a single individual deals in jaggery business,” the sources said. Sources further averred that the tax sleuths from both the premises seized heaps of incriminate documents in addition to the unaccounted cash, all amounting nearly to Rs 21 lakh. “While Rs 5 lakh was seized from M/s R J Traders, a sum of Rs 16 lakh was seized from the two premises of jaggery traders,” the sources maintained. As many as two dozen taxmen from Investigation Wing were taking part in the operations during the course of which they were closely scrutinizing all the financial records of all the three business premises. “In particularly, the jaggery trader was facing more heat since it concealed the unaccounted income amassed through other business, which were not mentioned in their annual income tax returns. Henceforth, the scrutiny of documents seized from these premises would take time and it is likely that the operation may culminate by Wednesday late evening,” the sources disclosed. Sources also said that the whole operation was being overseen by Principal Director (Investigation) Alok Johri and his men from Raipur-based Investigation Wing.
