Nominations of two candidates rejected during scrutiny of forms

NOMINATIONS of two candidates were rejected during scrutiny of nomination forms by Collector and District Returning Officer Chhavi Bharadwaj on Wednesday. District Returning Officer Chhavi Bharadwaj (IAS), found irregularities in nominations of independent candidate Anurag Kumar Garg and Akhil Bharatiya Vikas Congress Party’s candidate Prahalad Chowkidar.
 
She found that both the candidates had submitted only single sets of their nomination forms and 10 names of their proposers were also missing from their nomination forms. The District Returning Officer rejected nominations of Anurag Kumar Garg and Prahalad Chowkidar. Besides this, the District Returning Officer found that a candidate named Sukhdev Dahiya had filed two nominations and the name of his party was wrongly mentioned in one of the nomination forms.
 
One of the nomination forms was rejected but another nomination form was approved to confirm his candidature in Lok Sabha election-2019. As per procedure of filing nomination forms, a total number of 27 candidates submitted total 34 nomination forms. District Returning Officer conducted scrutiny of nomination forms from 11 am on Wednesday. Besides this, General Observer from Election Commission of India, V Amutthavalli was also present during scrutiny of nominations. With rejection of two nominations, total numbers of candidates are 25. As per schedule declared by the Election Commission of India, last date for withdrawal of nominations will be April 12 till 3 pm. Last date to withdraw names will be followed by listing of final candidates and allotment of election symbols.
