State to witness rise in temperature: Met office

SWELTERING conditions that continued unabated in the State on Wednesday made life miserable for the common man and the temprature is expected to rise according to the local Met office. With the days’ maximum temperature revolving around 41 Degree Celsius for the last one week including the highest maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius recorded at Rajnandgaon on Wednesday. The common man it seems has no respite from the soaring temperature. Denizens of the capital city on Wednesday had dizzy experience under the impact of blowing hot winds and rising mercury level.
 
Though Raipur sizzled with a new high of 41.6 degree Celsius in maximum temperature this season, Mana Airport and Bilaspur was also at par recording exactly same temperature. However, Rajnandgaon topped the list of highest temperature across the state touching 42.0 degrees mark during the day. Surprisingly, all these cities recorded just two notches above normal maximum temperature. Apart from Jagdalpur, Ambikapur and Pendra Road recording the lowest maximum temperature of the day at 36.6, 38.0 and 39.5 degree Celsius respectively, all other major cities crossed 40, reminding of the influence of initial heating conditions in the region. The Meteorological Center, Raipur has forecast of slight rainfall or thundershowers likely at one or two places in the state on April 11. There is a warning of thunderstorms accompanied with gusty winds at one or two places in state on Thursday.
 
The sky will be mainly clear in Raipur on Thursday. Partial cloudy conditions along with thundershowers and gusty winds is expected in the afternoon or evening hours in the city. During the existing weather conditions, medium to high velocity winds followed with summer thunderstorms sometimes even hail storms at the end of the day is a common feature while there is a slide in pressure. The winds are mainly dry and reach the Central region from Westerly or North Westerly direction occasionally becoming moderate to strong under the local conditions in the evening hours reminding of the tough summer head. However, the heating condition and extreme dry weather normally develops at the end of April or in the first half of May. It is followed with the extreme heat wave conditions ‘Nautappa’, the final stage of summer season in the state and the monsoon rains restores parity from second or third week of June.
