The Hitavada State Bureau Dantewada/Raipur:

The family of BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi ,who was killed just two days back in an IED blast triggered by Maoists, reached the polling booth to be a part of the biggest festival of democracy. As the whole family of Late Bhima Mandavi reached their polling booth for exercising their franchise, it took the people by surprise but they were also moved by the family’s faith in the ballot. Among those who came to vote were father Linga Mandavi, wife Ojaswi Mandavi, mother, brothers, amongst other members of the family.

The family members of Late Mandavi by turning up in full strength at the polling booth was reinforcement of their faith in democracy and belief in the ballot and hatred for bullets. They showed that despite the terror unleashed by the Maoists on the family they are neither afraid nor they will run away from the challenges ahead. Even Late Bhima Mandavi would have been proud of his family because the sacrifice he had given for keeping intact the light of democracy, his family today did their bit to keep that light glowing.

Although the people from the Mandavi’s native village Gadapal in Dantewada district, are in distress as they had lost their beloved Legislator, but the villagers participated in the greatest festival of democracy with much enthusiasm. By 1pm over 500 people had exercised their franchise from the village having a population of 1100 voters. Authorities were in doubt that after the incident the voting would be affected in the region as the Maoists had even thrown pamphlets. But large number of people came out to exercise their franchise.
