Chief Electoral Officer inspects preparations for poll

Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Chief Electoral Officer of State, Subrat Sahoo on Saturday reached Durg Lok Sabha constituency and took stock of the preparations and arrangements being done. Sahoo inspected the Strong Room at Rungta College Bhilai premises. He evaluated the constituency-wise arrangements being made for counting of votes. He also inspected the counting rooms along with strong room. Sahoo directed the District Election Officer, Police Administration and other officials that the counting work should be done with transparency and for this all the necessary initiatives must be taken and completed.
 
He then took stock of the parking and safety arrangements along with the entry gate arrangements made for the representatives of the political parties, common man and employees deputed by district election office. Sahoo said that safety of strong room is the most important work no untoward incidents must be reported, for this the strong room and counting premises must be monitored 24 hours by CCTV Camera along with the deputation of police personnel for 24 hours. Unauthorized persons should not be allowed to enter the premises also keeping in view the hot summer cold water, food and shed must be arranged for the employees. After the polling the EVM and other materials would be sealed in the strong room in the presence of political parties representatives and would also be opened on the counting day in their presence.
 
Briefing the press Sahoo said that all arrangements for the peaceful polling in Durg district. Arrangement of vehicles for polling employees deputed in polling work along with their safety arrangements have been completed. He informed that if during polling complaint regarding EVM comes it will be replaced within an hour. For more and more participation of disabled people ramp and wheel chairs are been arranged at every polling centers. Also for helping them NCC, Scout and Guide students will be deputed for helping them. Sahoo informed that for promoting youths participation Selfie zones are been established. Surprise checking of vehicles are also in progress and strict action are been initiated on those found guilty of breaking the model code of conduct.
