City awash with devotion on Ram Navami

The State capital woke up to chanting of religious chants ‘Jai Shree Ram’ and bhajans from various temples marking the birth of Lord Rama and culmination of nine-day pious festival Chaitra Navratri on Saturday. As it was Ram Navami, the devotees marked it with religious zeal. Devotees worshipped Lord Rama by organising various events. Ram Navami marked with devotion and processions carried out from thoroughfares of city. Puja (devotional worship) including bhajan and keertan, bhandara, shobhayatra, etc were organised During this religious fest, idols of God and Goddess were adorned with Shringar.
 
 
Sundarkand was also held at 7 am, Panchamrit Snan (holy bath of lord) then religious sermons were performed. Mahaarti and prasad distribution were held later in the evening. Temples, including Ram Mandir, Durga Mandir, Mata Mandir, Birla Mandir, Kali Mandir, Swarn Mandir, etc, witnessed celebrations. Dozens of temples across city have been decorated with flowers and colourful ‘Chunaris’. People chanted mantras, shlokas, bhajan and keertan to please the Goddess. Religious processions were also taken on the day including Kalash Yatra, Chunri Yatra etc.
 
Ram Rath Yatra was also carried out in city from Ghoda Nikkas Square and other areas. Hawan Puja and Kanya Puja were performed at Shreeram Mandir, Talaiya. Many religious processions by various communities were carried out in city. People and children lined up on the roadsides and rooftops to welcome the procession as it passed through various areas of city. Charitable events and community meals were also organised. Some of the devotees marked this religious occasion with fasting. The day is the ninth and last day of Chaitra Navaratri. It celebrates the arrival of Vishnu’s 7th avatar, Lord Rama. The festival is an occasion for moral reflection for many Hindus. The celebration was engrossed with religious and traditional fervour with the celebration of Ashtami and Ram Navami. Devotees thronged in large number at city temples to seek blessings from Goddess Durga and Lord Rama.
 
The nine-day auspicious festival concluded with great devotion and gaiety among devotees. Special Mahayagya and anusthan were held at the temples throughout these days. People chanted religious mantras and shlokas to please the goddess and make their wishes come true. Devotees completed their nine-days fast to seek blessings from Maa Durga for fulfilling their wishes. As confusion prevailed among the devotees, many people celebrated Durga Ashtami on Saturday and will mark celebration of Ram Navami on Sunday too.
