DEF Constable shoots self with service rifle

Badly distressed over family dispute, concerning antagonistic relationship with his wife, a Constable belonging to District Executive Force (DEF) of Raipur shot himself with his service INSAS rifle, here on Monday evening.
Senior officials of Raipur police including Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shaikh Arif Husen and other rushed to the scene on the receipt of incident news, the gravely injured constable under profusely bleeding condition had already been rushed to Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital. The victim constable few hours later had to be shifted to DKS Super Specialty Hospital after his condition failed to improve and deterioration started kicking-in.
The constable suffered fatal brain injury as the bullet making its entry from right temple made exit from left temple during which it inflicted critical wounds on right temporal region. According to police source, the injured constable has been identified as Ugrasen Dwivedi (41), having batch number 2025 and presently posted at Police Lines.
The constable was deployed on guard duty at Civil Lines-based Axis Bank. Preliminary investigation revealed that after having verbal altercation with wife, the constable has shot him with his service rifle at Shamiyana Palace under Civil Lines police limits at 7 pm. The injured constable was rushed to Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital and later shifted to DKS Super Specialty Hospital, where his condition is stated to be very critical, averred police sources. After being informed about the news, SSP Shaikh Arif Husen rushed to the spot to take stock of the incident, added police.
