EOW intensifies probe in to e-tender, MCU cases

Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is continuing its investigation into alleged irregularities of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication and e-tender scam. The officers investigating both cases are working tirelessly to have clinching evidences against accused. As far as case related to Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication is concerned, then it is learnt that investigating agency, EOW, is preparing to issue notices to accused and ex-Vice Chancellor B K Kuthiala and others. Kuthiala has been accused of using varsity’s money for personal expenses and doing appointments in violation of norms. He has been also accused of extending benefit to some organisations in gross violation of norms. So far, no arrest has been made into the case which has become bone of contention between BJP and Congress. BJP is accusing Congress government of using EOW against it to settle the score. It is saying that the State Government is acting with political vendetta after income tax raids against close aide of CM Kamal Nath. In e-tendering case, EOW has got some pivotal information in interrogation of held accused and OSD of MPSEDC Nandkumar Brahme. It is reportedly learnt that, on Monday, he was produced before the court and taken on remand. Notably, Nandkumar Brahme was held on Sunday. He is one of the accused in e tender tampering case in which price bids were allegedly change to benefit particular companies. In e-tendering case, seven companies have been made accused. Total nine tenders of five departments were tampered. The e-tender scam is said to be of Rs 3,000 crore. Sources added that a team of EOW is also conducting search at the office of Bengaluru-based company which prepared e tender. The entire process of e tender is being investigated. The e tender scam happened during erstwhile BJP regime and when it came to fore, Shivraj government cancelled the entire e tender process and invited fresh e tenders. The e-tender scam was done by illegally obtaining digital signature.
 
Ex-VC of MCNUJC releases statement

Opposing the allegations and FIR lodged against former Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, B K Kuthiyala said that no one recorded his statement before making charges. In a press note released by Kuthiyala, it has been mentioned that FIR has been lodged against 19 staffers of the university and a three-member committee has been formed to enquire the case. He said that this is completely injustice as no one recorded his statement before making the charges. Kuthiyala said, “during my tenure as Vice Chancellor of MCNUJC all works were done as per the guidelines of the University Act, UGC and State Government. Being a Vice Chancellor, I am taking responsibility of my team in this regards.”
