Carmel Convent Senior Secondary School, BHEL, felicitated Srushti Jayant Deshmukh, the UPSC/IAS 2018 topper and ex-Carmelite in the assembly on Monday. Srushti was felicitated by Principal Sr Pavithra and Manager Sr Ancilla and the secretaries of the School Faculty, on behalf of all the teachers, staff members and students. Sridevi, former Class 12th teacher of Srushti Deshmukh (a pass out of 2014), addressed the assembly shedding light on her many qualities from when she was a student of Carmel Convent and how she was even then dedicated and focused on her goals, never compromising on her principles.

Sr Pavithra, Principal, then took the opportunity to speak to the assembly and inspired the students to witness Srushti Deshmukh’s example as a burning beacon of motivation to the reality that the sky is the limit for those who are to realise their dreams and that nothing is impossible to achieve once you make your mind up and devote yourself to its realisation, emphasising that Carmel as a school is an opportune place filled with facilities in all fields in the form of the school library, NCC, Sports, Dance and many others that are solely aimed at promoting the students’ passion and bringing them closer to the achievement of their goals. Sr Pavithra also took this moment to appreciate and applaud the devoted teachers at the school, who tirelessly strive to bring out the best in each child, no matter what the age of the student. Sr Ancilla, Manager, also took to stage to congratulate Deshmukh and inspire the students to excel and make their Alma Mater proud, expressing hope that we will see many more such achievers in various fields in the near future and will be felicitating more and more achievers and go getters.

She insisted that the students have a goal, no matter which field it’s in and pursue it with passion stating that, “everything is achievable if we devote all our energy to that one goal. Keep yourself motivated, trust God, trust yourself and look up to your parents and teachers for guidance and assurance in tough times”. Moreover, citing her own example she encouraged the young minds to limit online interaction and keep themselves shielded from distractions and wandering. It is noteworthy that Deshmukh herself has no social media accounts, which she claims further helped her focus her energies on achieving her goal and is a mantra that may be adopted by the young minds to enhance and harvest their mental faculties and creative energy.
