After many parleys and hiccups, finally the Congress has decided Pankaj Sanghvi as its Indore Lok Sabha candidate on Tuesday evening. With this, Congress has declared all the Lok Sabha candidates in Madhya Pradesh. Indore Lok Sabha seat is considered as strong citadel of BJP and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had remained MP from Indore Lok Sabha seat for record eight times.

 

 

After her announcement that she will not contest Lok Sabha election anymore, Congress is seeing a ray of hope to win Indore Lok Sabha seat. As far as Pankaj Sanghvi is concerned then he had contested Lok Sabha election against Sumitra Mahajan in 1996 and got defeated. He had also contested MLA election from Indore Assembly seat number five in 2013 and got trounced by the BJP candidate. He had also unsuccessfully contested Indore Mayor election in 2009.

 

 

Congress leaders are fathoming that he would be able to give tough fight if BJP fields other than Kailash Vijayvargiya. The name of local BJP leader Shankar Lalwani is also doing round for Indore Lok Sabha ticket. One of the leaders of Congress said if Kailash Vijayvargiya gets Lok Sabha ticket from BJP then election would be totally one-sided. However, if BJP gives ticket to Lalwani then Congress candidate Pankaj Sanghvi could give a good fight to the BJP candidate.
