Unseasonal rainfall ruins standing crop of wheat

The western disturbance and cyclone over Rajasthan and Bay of Bengal brought sudden change in weather as unseasonable rainfall occurred on Wednesday. According to information provided by Meteorological Department, two separate cyclonic clouds formed over Rajasthan and Bay of Bengal and western disturbance active in Himalayan region brought moisture in the air, which created dense clouds in the atmosphere. Relative humidity recorded in the morning was 91%, which was reduced to 73% in the evening. The dense clouds hovering over the sky in morning made people feel as if sunset had occurred. Earlier, thundershowers lashed during the night. There was heavy rainfall in different areas of the city in the morning.
 
A total 2.2 mm rainfall occurred from morning to evening. A total 22.3 mm rainfall has occurred so far. Believe it or not, the hailstorm also occurred in April month at some parts of Barela, which ruined the standing crop of wheat. It brought tears in eyes of needy peasants. The purchase centres also got inundated in water due to which wheat kept in open got wet. As there was no arrangement for protecting the crops from water at Barela, Padwar, Pindrai, the gloomy peasants had to make arrangements themselves to protect the crop from water.
 
 
The condition of crops in Barela, Richai, Purva, Deori, Dhanpuri, Umariya and Padwar is worst, standing crop has been badly damaged. The harvesting of wheat crops sown comparatively late by the peasants was stopped due to occurrence of heavy downpour. The wheat kept under open sky at yards in urban areas and also at Krishi Upaj Mandis got wet due to heavy rainfall. The rainfall made the weather moderate and people got respite from severe hot weather. The rainfall, which occurred at regular intervals, brought down the temperature. The people stopped using coolers and air conditioners. The minimum temperature recorded on Sunday was 19.8 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees below the normal minimum temperature.
 
 
Whereas, the minimum temperature recorded on the same day in previous year was 24.4 degrees Celsius. As it was official holiday in most of the organisations, the people planned to go for picnic at nearby tourist spots to enjoy the pleasant atmosphere. The south eastern wind is blowing with speed of 4 to 5 km per hour. Likewise, the maximum temperature also declined below normal on Wednesday. Maximum temperature recorded on Wednesday was 30.7 degrees Celsius, which is 8 degrees below the normal maximum temperature. Whereas, the maximum temperature recorded on the same day in previous year was 41.3 degrees Celsius. According to the forecast, rain would occur in isolated places in next 24 hours.
