Burglars storm Bajaj showroom, decamp with Rs 9 lakh from coffer

BHILAI, Apr 1 AMIDST intensive checking and round the clock vigil ahead of Lok Sabha election, in a major burglary, some unidentified burglars - probably equipped with gas cutter and hacksaw blade, struck at Bajaj showroom and decamped with cash Rs 9 lakh from the showroom in Chhaoni, Bhilai. The police claimed to have launched intensive investigation to track down the culprits behind the burglary. According to information, during intervening night of Sunday and Monday, some unidentified burglars, in motorbikes, broke into Bajaj showroom, located near Tin Darshan Mandir in Chhaoni, Bhilai and ran away with the cash Rs 9 lakh after cutting open the safe with gas cutter. The burglary came to light when on Monday morning, as usual Hemraj Rao, the Manager of the motorbike showroom reached the workplace and learnt about the burglary.
 
After information, the police team, led by senior police officials, reached the showroom and conducted spot inspection. While inspecting spot the police recorded all details to lay hands on the culprits behind burglary. The police have registered the offence under sections 457 and 380 of Indian Penal Code for indulging in the criminal acts of committing trespass and burglary. As per modus operandi, recorded in the course of spot inspection, the gang of unidentified burglars struck at the showroom after conducting recce and the safe of the showroom was also cut open with the gas cutter. They broke into the showroom from backside after cutting grills of the workshop.
 
The gang of burglars probably equipped with gas cutters and hacksaw blades. After committing burglary the gang managed to flee, posing challenge to police checking and vigil and are still away from police radar. Vishal Chandrakar, CSP, Chhaoni Police Subdivision informed that the police have already launched an intensive investigation and are working out all details to nab the burglars at the earliest. He also claimed that in the course of preliminary investigation the police have retrieved CCTV grabs of the burglars and they could not hoodwink police for long.
